COVID-19 Pandemic
I began taking this series of photos on March 27, 2020. Governor Scott's Stay Home Stay Safe order had been recently released and I was walking outside for exercise. I was struck at the absence of life in downtown Burlington, VT. The empty spaces where normally people would congregate, shop, recreate, even park. I knew from day one that this would be a long running series of photos.
Photographs in this gallery are sorted so that the most recent ones are on top. If this is your first time here, you may want to go to the last page and scroll all the way to the bottom so you can start at the beginning.
Free Ride Day
Green Mountain Transit (Burlington's local bus service) has offered free rides until April 1, 2020. No joke.

All Worship & Gatherings Suspended
It seems like just yesterday that I was talking with Kyle about whether or not it was responsible to worship together and proposing online alternatives. Now everyone's doing it.

Friday, 1:25pm
The lack of people out gives me a strange sense of hope. Hope that we are taking this seriously. Hope that we may not overrun our hospital's capacity. Hope that people are learning -- hopefully not too late.

Skate Movie
The parking garage gave me flashbacks to 80's and 90's skate movies.

Co-Op Workers Demand Hazard Pay
Thank you to the hidden folks that are keeping our community running. The grocery re-stockers, the cashiers, the truck drivers, the loading dock workers, the emergency responders, the sanitation workers, the janitors....

You Are My Sunshine
Uncommon Grounds closed months before the pandemic. Not sure if the white sign was added more recently than that, but it made me smile.

Evening Stroll on the Waterfront
Normally, there would be dozens to hundreds of people walking down here just around sunset.
