COVID-19 Pandemic
I began taking this series of photos on March 27, 2020. Governor Scott's Stay Home Stay Safe order had been recently released and I was walking outside for exercise. I was struck at the absence of life in downtown Burlington, VT. The empty spaces where normally people would congregate, shop, recreate, even park. I knew from day one that this would be a long running series of photos.
Photographs in this gallery are sorted so that the most recent ones are on top. If this is your first time here, you may want to go to the last page and scroll all the way to the bottom so you can start at the beginning.
Wear a Mask
There is a lot of discussion about where and when to wear a mask. Everything I read says wear a mask when social distancing is not possible or you will be indoors with individuals not from your household. Proximity and time of potential exposure are the major factors to consider. For this reason, I bring a mask nearly everywhere, but only wear it when I am unable to give space to others around me or when I am entering a store.
Maple Creemee
First creemee of the year. In line, the couple in front of us said "Oh my, we don't even have our masks with us," with sincerity. I still have mixed feelings. Being outside, with this few folks around, trying to keep some space between groups, I'm OK with not wearing a mask. I also wouldn't critize anyone who is wearing one. Add more people, and the mask in my pocket is definitely going on. (Not sure how to eat my creemee wearing a mask, though.)
